From 2009 to today, Ghatre has grown step by step and expanded its services

Pharmacy students' experience of patients unable to afford their medications was what brought us together at Ghatre. The Ghatre student association began in autumn 2009, founded by students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tehran University of Medical Sciences to provide medications for patients in need. After a while, the charity's activities became more serious, and Ghatre decided to expand its activities beyond the university. To do so, we needed a license to operate outside the University of Tehran.

With five faculty members of the Faculty of Pharmacy among its founders, Ghatre obtained the approval of the Ministry of Interior and was officially registered in Aban 1394 (October–November 2015) as the "Ghatre Pharmaceutical Support Charity" under registration number 37317.

Bureaucratic hurdles made the process lengthy, but in Shahrivar 1395 (August–September 2016) Ghatre finally obtained its license from the Ministry of Interior to operate nationwide.

In 1396 (2017–2018), Ghatre began collaborating with pharmaceutical companies, attracting cash and in-kind donations from pharmaceutical manufacturers to provide medications for needy patients.

During the Persian years 1395–1398 (March 2016–March 2020), among Ghatre's key activities were direct collaboration with social and medical charities to meet medication needs, and nearly 300 medication consultations provided by Ghatre's clinical pharmacists and consultants for patients covered by medical charities.

The Ghatre general assembly was held on November 23, 2020 (3 Azar 1399), attended by active members from past years, and a new board of directors was elected.
